So long have devout gamers gone on the record for saying, "Video games are art REVISE!". And consequently, there have been opposing parties contradicting that very statement in a number of ways.
And so, you may ask yourself, "Why, if at all does this matter?". Well, the way I see it is that should we classify video games as art, then more developers would be more aware that a quality game does not consist of recycled concepts from a Grade A game, in a Grade D way. But rather, unique game mechanics, stories, objective, and art styles are primarily the contributing factors to a successful game.
